The item shown (“Fieldmaster”) is not what I received. I received the “Hiker” which does not have the scissors or the hook. That explains why the price is so low for a Fieldmaster. This price is just normal for a Hiker.

I was looking to replace my old pocket knife, which I recently (and tragically) lost, but was having troubles deciding on the correct model. I wanted both a saw and the scissors, but on other models it was one or the other or meant getting the corkscrew instead of the phillips screwdriver. This particular knife incorporates all of the components I was looking for. And of course, the quality of Victorinox products remains the same in all of my experiences: useful and durable (barring using a blade as a screwdriver.)I have used my swiss army knife more times than I can count and there have been many instances when having it with me has saved me a lot of grief. A good thing to keep in your pocket!

Got this one and like it very much — except for daily carry. If you want to carry it in the jeans pocket or shorts pocket, then it might be too large for some people’s taste. It was for mine — so I kept it for camping trips and picked up another SAK: the wenger pocket tool chest. You can never have too many SAKs. :-)

Needed a knife for my cub scout and after looking at the cub scout version of the swiss army knife decided on this one instead. Much better value, probably because it doesn’t have to have the scout logo upcharge on it. Wanted a knife without a corkscrew on it (why bother for an 8 year old!) and this one fit the bill. He is delighted and I liked it so much I bought a second for my girl scout. Versatile and excellent quality. Not as heavy-duty as my leatherman but a great choice for a pocketnife.
