About Swiss Army Knives In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener’s mother, and “inox,” or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

I’m on about my 10th one of these. This is the perfect pocket knife. It’s small enough so that you never notice that it’s in your pocket. It’s got a phillips screwdriver that amazingly works on just about any phillips screw large or small, scissors, bottle opener, tweezers and toothpick. I use this for something or other just about every day, can’t tell you how handy it is.

I bought this knife to replace my lost “Classic”. This one is just like the “Classic” except it has the additional bottle opener/phillips screwdriver/wire stripper tool. It’s still a tiny knife that you won’t even notice in your pocket. I find uses for mine every single day and I wouldn’t be without it. The “Classic” is excellent. The “Rambler” is excellent plus!

Simply put, this is the perfect 58mm Swiss Army Knife. Everyone should carry one! The Rambler has pretty much every tool needed in everyday life without any unnecessary ones.
The knife is small, but fine for cutting tape and opening packages. The nail file is very good, and has a small flathead screwdriver tip. The combo tool has a great magnetic screw driver, wire stripper (works but is kind of useless), and bottle opener. The scissors are small but useful for clipping coupons and loose threads. The tweezers are good, and even the toothpick is handy when you have food stuck between your teeth.
The Rambler is a great compliment for a larger Swiss Army knife such as a Soldier or Spartan, which will give you a large blade, large screwdrivers, and can opener to compliment the tools of the Rambler.

Swiss Army makes so many small knives that it’s hard to choose the best for you. I like this one because it’s small enough to keep on my keyring, has a good scissors, and has both regular and phillips head screwdrivers. These pretty much cover what I want the knife to do (along with the knife blade, of course). And the quality is excellent. The Rambler’s the one for me!
